Vladimir Putin and President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko will take part in the plenary session of the Second Forum of Regions of Russia and Belarus in Sochi on September 18.
The forum’s theme is The Union State’s Industrial Policy: Common Approaches and Regional Aspects. Participants will include the heads of the Russian Federation Council and State Duma, the Republic Council and House of Representatives of Belarus, the Union State Standing Committee, heads of key ministries and agencies, regional executive and legislative heads from both countries, and representatives from big business and public and scientific organisations. The last forum took place in June 2014 in Minsk.
Mr Putin and Mr Lukashenko will hold a separate meeting before the plenary session, at which they will discuss implementation of decisions taken at the Union State Supreme State Council’s meeting (on March 3, 2015, in Moscow), and other current issues in bilateral relations. They will also exchange views on prospects for expanding integration cooperation within the Eurasian Economic Union.
The forum will see the conclusion of a number of bilateral agreements on cooperation between Russian and Belarusian regions.
