Presidential Aide and State Council Secretary Igor Levitin held a meeting on organising the activities of the council’s working groups.
Vladimir Putin resolved to create State Council working groups following an expanded meeting of the State Council Presidium held in Crimea on November 23, 2018.
As per the President’s instructions issued on December 27, 2018, a total of 16 working groups have been established in the main socioeconomic development areas. It has been decided that these groups will be chaired by the heads of Russia’s regions.
The meeting was attended by the regional heads who have been appointed to chair these working groups plus their representatives. Igor Levitin said in his remarks that the working groups were set up to ensure efficient and prompt interaction between the regions and the Government on the main matters of socioeconomic development, including the implementation of the national projects.
The participants discussed forms of operation, such as preparing State Council events and cooperation with the deputy prime ministers responsible for the given activities as well as with the working group of the Presidential Council for Strategic Development and National Projects.
The State Council working groups will become operational as of February 1, 2019.
