On Defender of the Fatherland Day, Vladimir Putin laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier by the Kremlin Wall to honour the memory of fallen soldiers.
Flowers were also laid at the Eternal Flame by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Anton Vaino, Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu, Supreme Court President Vyacheslav Lebedev, President of the Constitutional Court Valery Zorkin, other public and state figures, and representatives of veteran organisations.
The ceremony concluded with a ceremonial march of the Guards of Honour and a military orchestra.
