Meeting with Silvio Berlusconi

Vladimir Putin met in Crimea with Silvio Berlusconi, who is in Russia on a private visit.

The Russian President and former Italian Prime Minister laid flowers at a memorial at the foot of the mountain Gasfort dedicated to the memory of soldiers from the Kingdom of Sardinia, who fell in the 1853–1856 Crimean War.

Later, Mr Putin and Mr Berlusconi visited the Massandra Palace of Emperor Alexander III and the Massandra Winery, where they looked over one of the wine cellars.

Later on, Mr Putin and Mr Berlusconi strolled along the Yalta seashore esplanade and spoke with holidaymakers.

The President and former Italian Prime Minister met with representatives of the Crimean Italian community Cerchio at one of the cafes along the seashore.

There was discussion, in particular, of the possibility of amending the Presidential Executive Order on rehabilitation of repressed peoples in Crimea to include Italians who lived in the region and were unlawfully deported.

At the Livadia Palace, the Russian President and former Prime Minister of Italy visited an exhibition on the Yalta Conference, looked over the halls and rooms at the palace, and the Italian Courtyard. At the end of the visit, Mr Putin and Mr Berlusconi signed the distinguished visitors’ book.
