Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with British Prime Minister David Cameron.
Mr Cameron briefed Mr Putin on his recent contacts with US President Barack Obama and the main outlines of discussions on the Syrian crisis.
Mr Putin and Mr Cameron agreed to continue the dialogue on the situation in Syria at the G8 summit in Northern Ireland in June.
The President also briefed Mr Cameron on his talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Mr Putin had meetings earlier this month in Sochi with Mr Cameron and Mr Netanyahu.
