Telephone conversation with King Abdullah II of Jordan

Dmitry Medvedev had a telephone conversation with King Abdullah II of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

During the conversation, the President of Russia warmly congratulated the Jordanian monarch on his 50th birthday.

Dmitry Medvedev and King Abdullah II exchanged views on current issues on the bilateral and international agenda. Both sides noted the significance of Russian-Jordanian cooperation to ensure regional stability and security.

The two leaders discussed plans for contacts in the near future.

The conversation was initiated by the Russian side.

Dmitry Medvedev also sent King Abdullah II a congratulatory telegram, which reads, in part:

“Under your leadership, Jordan has achieved tangible results in unlocking its economic potential and preserving its distinctive culture and national traditions. You have rightfully earned a reputation as a visionary politician by carrying out social reforms and strengthening the prestige of the Kingdom on the international arena.

I greatly value the warm personal relationship that has formed between us. Our regular communication, which always occurs in a friendly atmosphere, is an important factor in increasing Russian-Jordanian cooperation in various areas.

I am certain that thanks to our joint efforts, the multifaceted relations between Russia and Jordan will continue to flourish, enriched with new projects and initiatives in the interests of our nations, stability and security in the Middle East and throughout the world.”
