Vladimir Putin sent his congratulations to President of France Francois Hollande on the Bastille Day national holiday.
The message reads, in part:
“I am happy to see that Russian-French bilateral relations, based on longstanding traditions of friendship and mutual respect, are developing steadily. We have established a constructive political dialogue and are expanding our ties in trade and the economy, science and technology, humanitarian and other fields. Our countries work actively together on resolving the different problems on the regional and global agendas.
This high level of understanding was confirmed by our meetings in Moscow in February and in Lough Erne in June. I hope to continue these substantial contacts with you at the upcoming G20 Summit in St Petersburg. I am sure that through our joint efforts we will succeed in taking the full range of our ties even further. This is unquestionably in both nations’ fundamental interests.”
