At Japan’s initiative, Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
Mr Putin and Mr Abe had a substantial discussion of Russian-Japanese relations and their development. Both leaders emphasised mutual interest in boosting political, trade, economic, humanitarian and other ties, and agreed to continue their personal contacts.
The two leaders also exchanged views on international affairs, with particular attention given to the situation on the Korean Peninsula, as well as combating international terrorism and possible solutions to the Syrian crisis.
