President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev: Mr Nazarbayev,

We have already held a number of very important interstate events, both in the troika format of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council and the EurAsEC format, and now it’s time to talk about bilateral relations.

In our opinion, they are developing spectacularly well but there are always issues and economic aspects to discuss, so I suggest we look at how things are proceeding.

President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev: Mr Medvedev, thank you for the invitation, for your hospitality and the opportunity to meet.

We had a comprehensive discussion at the bilateral meeting in Astrakhan. Out top-level meetings are always highly productive. Now we are working in the  Background information Customs Union between Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan Customs Union and have reached agreement on Common Economic Space.

I am happy say that Russia and Kazakhstan are the locomotive of these integration associations. This is the first time that trade between our states has approached $20 billion.
