Vladimir Putin and President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev held talks in Astana. A set of documents was signed following the meeting; in particular, the presidents signed a Protocol on Amendments to the 1992 Agreement on Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance, which extends the agreement for ten years, taking into account the new realities of political and economic integration between Russia and Kazakhstan.
In addition, agreements on cooperation in small-scale power generation, procedures regulating Russian and Kazakhstani citizens’ stay on the two counties’ territories and crossing of the common border by residents of near-border territories, agreement on readmission and an executive protocol on its implementation were signed in the presence of the two presidents.
