The “Boris Eifman: 70th Birthday” gala show was staged as part of the choreographer’s birthday celebrations at the Alexandrinsky Theatre, where many of his productions were premiered. The gala included scenes from his landmark productions, which epitomised the basic stages of his long artistic evolution – “Anna Karenina,” “Rodin,” “Up & Down” and “Tchaikovsky. PRO et CONTRA.”

Mr Ivanov highlighted the teaching talent of the ballet master who has educated several generations of dancers and choreographers.

He also read aloud President Vladimir Putin’s message of congratulations.
