Vladimir Putin paid tribute to the memory of fallen soldiers, laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier near the Kremlin Wall.
The wreath-laying ceremony was attended by Great Patriotic War veterans, Council of Federation Chairperson Valentina Matviyenko, State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin, Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu and Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev.
The participants paid tribute to the fallen defenders of the Fatherland with a minute of silence. The ceremony ended with a solemn march of the honour guards.
