Presentation of Development Awards

June 17, 2016, St Petersburg

Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Ivanov attended the 2016 Development Awards ceremony, traditionally held on the sidelines of the St Petersburg International Economic Forum.

In his remarks, Sergei Ivanov noted that Development Awards have already recognised several dozen completed projects, and the number of candidates is growing. Against 289 entries in 2015, this year’s contest had over 300 from 65 regions. Mr Ivanov congratulated the winners and wished them success.

The Development Award is an annual professional prize awarded to organisations and individuals for achievements in implementing major programmes and projects of national significance that make a meaningful contribution to Russia’s socioeconomic development.

Sergei Ivanov also participated in a SPIEF plenary session on environmental protection policy and clean technology, and attended the ceremony to sign a special investment contract with CLAAS Company and memorandums on signing special investment contracts with EuroChem Group AG.

Specifically, three memorandums of understanding were signed on special investment contracts to be executed with Perm Territory, and Leningrad and Volgograd regions. The funds will be used to build three chemical production facilities in the regions, with a total investment of 287 billion rubles.

After the signing ceremony, Sergei Ivanov noted that the signed documents were the first to involve the special investment contract, which allows investors to develop or upgrade industrial production while the government provides various preferences and stable conditions for doing business.
