Visit to the Russia – My History Interactive Museum

February 2, 2018, Volgograd

Before departing from Volgograd, Vladimir Putin visited the Russia – My History Interactive Museum.

The President looked over a display of items from a retrieved armoured gunboat of the Volga warship flotilla that had been listed as missing since 1942. In November 2017 a search team conducted a complicated operation to raise its carcass from the bottom of the Volga River. Among the objects recovered were personal belongings of sailors and preserved parts of armaments and technical items.

Vladimir Putin also took part in the opening of a project of the Volunteers of Victory national movement – a virtual quest room centring on events of the Battle of Stalingrad. A presentation on it was given by winners of the competition Ambassadors of Victory. Stalingrad. As volunteers they took part in organising events devoted to the 75th anniversary of victory in the Battle of Stalingrad. The President cut the ribbon on the room together with the volunteers. The quest room will be open to visitors in the Russia – My History historical park in Volgograd from February 3 to 10, after which it will tour Russia.

In addition, Vladimir Putin visited the multimedia exhibition Names from Soldiers’ Identification Tags devoted to missing soldiers of the Great Patriotic War. Multimedia screens show portraits of Soviet soldiers found and identified in the last few years. Visitors simply have to touch a photo to learn about the wartime fate of each soldier.
