Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office attended the opening ceremony for the second passenger complex of Phase I at Vnukovo Airport Terminal A.
Speaking at the ceremony, Sergei Ivanov noted that Vnukovo airport had been able to fulfil two key requirements: comfort and passenger safety. This Moscow air transportation hub is Europe’s second busiest. The opening of the new terminal is particularly important ahead of New Year holidays, Mr Ivanov stated.
Sergei Ivanov had a look at how the terminal operates and visited the service zone of the aviation safety control centre. To date, this terminal is the most advanced airport facility in Russia in terms of its engineering, technical, and design features.
Its boarding hall has 52 departure gates, including 31 equipped with passenger boarding bridges, one of which will service the world’s largest airplane, the Airbus A380. The new terminal has an area of 270,000 square meters and an annual capacity of 30 million passengers.
