Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Ivanov discussed Russian-American relations with Henry Kissinger. The former US Secretary of State is visiting Russia.
According to Sergei Ivanov, the last meeting between Russian and US presidents in St Petersburg demonstrated that if very complex problems are approached constructively, a compromise solution is possible notwithstanding differences of opinion.
In addition, the Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office noted that he met last week with US Deputy Secretary of State William Burns, and discussed the current situation and development prospects of Russian-American relations.
For his part, Henry Kissinger emphasised Russia’s role in international affairs, and said that a stable Russia-US relationship is crucial for stability and peace throughout the world. He also noted the importance of direct negotiations between the two countries’ presidents.
