The Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office took part in a meeting marking Prosecutor General's Office Worker Day.

The Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office took part in a special meeting marking Prosecutor General's Office Worker Day. Mr Ivanov congratulated the staff and veterans of the Prosecutor General's Office on their professional holiday.

Addressing the meeting participants, the Chief of Staff stressed that the prosecution agencies' staff should focus primarily on the protection of lawful rights and interests of the citizens, first of all, in the social sphere.

Sergei Ivanov noted that in 2014, the prosecution agencies intervened and assisted in paying over 7 billion rubles (more than $114 million) in wage arrears to Russian citizens, and also curbed violations in setting prices for vital and essential pharmaceutical products and providing medicines for the privileged categories of citizens. The Chief of Staff also underlined the importance of keeping fuel and foodstuff prices under control.

Mr Ivanov stressed the need to prevent any unreasonable inspections of businesses and reduce administrative pressure on entrepreneurs. To control the efficient use of funds, the prosecution authorities should work in coordination with other agencies, in particular, with the Accounts Chamber.

Also, Sergei Ivanov underlined the prosecution agencies’ role in fulfilling the state defence order.

The prosecutor’s office priority tasks include fighting crime, terrorism and extremism, and Mr Ivanov noted that the prosecution agencies have been working consistently and effectively in meeting these challenges.

The Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office presented state decorations to 30 officers and also read out the message of congratulations from the President.
