April 23, 2015, Moscow

Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Ivanov visited the exhibition European Orders of Knighthood in the Kremlin.

The Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office, who also heads the supervisory board of the Moscow Kremlin museums, viewed the exhibits and heard detailed accounts provided by Director of the Moscow Kremlin museums Yelena Gagarina and Professor Andrei Khazin, a collector.

Sergei Ivanov highly appreciated the exhibition, saying it was unique. The Chief of Staff stressed that this was the first time these objects were on display at a Kremlin museum or anywhere in Russia. “This is a very good reflection of history, especially European history,” Mr Ivanov said.

The exhibition displays more than 300 17th-20th century top insignia from Great Britain, Austro-Hungary, Prussia, Spain, Portugal, the Vatican and Napoleonic France, including the insignia of the British Order of the Garter bestowed upon Alexander II and Nicholas II’s Victorian Royal chain.

The exhibits come from the Moscow Kremlin museums, the British Royal Collection and Andrei Khazin’s private collection.

The European Orders of Knighthood exhibition will be open until August 30.
