Presidential Aide and Secretary of the State Council Igor Levitin held a videoconference meeting on preparing a State Council Presidium meeting on developing Russia’s tourism and resort sector in the Siberian Federal District.
Taking part in the meeting were Plenipotentiary Presidential Envoy in the Siberian Federal District Nikolai Rogozhkin, Head of the Federal Tourism Agency Oleg Safonov, representatives of federal executive bodies, and tourism sector and association heads and directors.
Head of the Federal Tourism Agency Oleg Safonov presented a report on the impact of the 2011–2018 programme for developing domestic and foreign tourism in Russia on developing the country’s tourism infrastructure.
In their reports, Governor of Altai Territory Alexander Karlin, Head of the Republic of Altai and Prime Minister of the Altai Republic Government Alexander Berdnikov, Acting Governor of Irkutsk Region Sergei Yeroshenko, Acting Governor of Kemerovo Region Aman Tuleyev, and Deputy Prime Minister of the Novosibirsk Region Government Olga Molchanova analysed the tourism and resort sector’s development in the Siberian Federal District, looked at the problems to be addressed and proposed solutions.
An active discussion of experience in developing tourism and recreation clusters and special tourism and recreation economic zones took place via videoconference.
Summing up the meeting, Mr Levitin noted that the state authorities are paying particular attention now to issues such as leisure, health and raising people’s life expectancy. This is why it so timely and important to develop Russia’s tourism and resort sector. Furthermore, the tourism sector can create new jobs, fuel economic growth, and act as catalyst for socioeconomic development in all of Russia’s regions.
