Meeting on preparing a State Council Presidium meeting on measures to enhance the investment appeal of health resort sector in Russia

May 30, 2016

Presidential Aide and State Council Secretary Igor Levitin chaired a meeting in the Siberian Federal District on preparing a State Council Presidium meeting on measures to enhance the investment appeal of Russia’s health resort sector facilities.

The meeting participants included Head of the working group and Altai Territory Governor Alexander Karlin, Minister for North Caucasus Affairs Lev Kuznetsov, Plenipotentiary Presidential Envoy to the Siberian Federal District Nikolai Rogozhkin, Head of the Altai Republic Alexander Berdnikov, Novosibirsk Region Governor Vladimir Gorodetsky, Director of the Federal Agency for Tourism Oleg Safonov, Deputy Healthcare Minister Tatyana Yakovleva, President of the National Resort Association Academician Alexander Razumov, and executive officials from regions in the Siberian Federal District.

The main issues facing the development of Russia’s health resort sector and possible solutions were the principle subjects of discussion. Problems to be addressed include shortcomings in management and legal regulation systems, costs for services beyond what the majority of Russian citizens can afford, and lack of information among people abroad of the possibilities Russia’s health resorts offer.

In his closing remarks at the meeting, Mr Levitin said that resolving these problems would make the sector more attractive to investors and give a big boost to developing the sector in the interests of improving the health of people from Russia and abroad in an increasingly globally competitive environment.
