Sergei Ivanov chaired a regular meeting of the Working Group to Monitor and Analyse Law Enforcement Practice in Entrepreneurial Activity
Opening the meeting, Mr Ivanov noted that, pursuant to the President’s instruction after the St Petersburg International Economic Forum, several proposals have been developed to increase law enforcement officials’ liability for actions leading to the unjustified criminal prosecution of entrepreneurs and the termination of their business.
Specifically, some amendments to the Criminal Code and the Criminal Procedural Code of the Russian Federation have been proposed.
During the discussion, those in the working group agreed that the proposed amendments to the legislation would rule out the threat of criminal prosecution to impose pressure on businesses and, as a result, have a positive effect on the business climate in the country. It is expected that the President will submit the bill on the amendments to the State Duma soon.
