The first working group meeting on preparing for a State Council Presidium session on measures to implement the strategic tasks set by the President’s Executive Order of May 7, 2018 on the accelerated socio-economic development of the Far East took place under the chairmanship of Presidential Aide and State Council Secretary Igor Levitin.
Under the plan, the State Council Presidium meeting will be held during the Eastern Economic Forum in September 2018.
The working group was headed by Acting Governor of Magadan Region Sergei Nosov, who outlined the goals in drafting the report.
The conference was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Plenipotentiary Presidential Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev and representatives from all branches of government as well as the business and expert communities.
The Head of the Working Group, Minister on the Development of the Far East Alexander Kozlov presented the concept of the report.
Participants in the State Council meeting will discuss the implementation of 12 national projects set forth by the President’s Executive Order for the Far East. Success largely depends on the work of regional governors.
Members of the working group emphasised that the Far East has always played a special role in Russia’s development and that it is necessary to continue establishing a system of management that will correspond to the goals of the accelerated development of the Far East.
The participants noted that now it is important to analyse the implementation of the earlier approved decisions, evaluate the efficiency of the adopted measures, study the risks that could obstruct the implementation of the goals set by the President and, based on these, suggest proposals for the further support of the Far East.
