Presidential Aide and Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Council for the Development of Physical Culture and Sport Igor Levitin held a final meeting of the working group to prepare a joint meeting of the Presidential Council for the Development of Physical Culture and Sport and the Supervisory Board of the Russia 2018 Local Organising Committee autonomous non-profit organisation. The meeting will focus on the outcomes of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and ways to implement the legacy concept.
Governor of the Kaliningrad Region and head of the working group Anton Alikhanov and Governor of the Rostov Region Vasily Golubev briefed on the work to draft a report for the Council’s meeting, as well as on proposals of Russian regions and federal executive bodies regarding the draft resolution to be adopted following the Council’s meeting. Minister of Sport Pavel Kolobkov spoke about the mechanisms for implementing the World Cup Legacy Concept.
Once implemented, the measures proposed by the working group will help create an environment for the effective, multi-purpose use of the 2018 FIFA World Cup legacy.
The meeting participants noted the importance of continuing the practice of nominating Russia to host major international sports events.
The Presidential Council for the Development of Physical Culture and Sport is scheduled to meet on July 20.
