Meeting on preparation for a State Council Presidium meeting on developing tourism in Russia

Presidential Aide and State Council Secretary Igor Levitin held a meeting to prepare a State Council Presidium meeting on developing tourism in the Russian Federation.

The meeting was attended by Primorye Territory Governor and Head of the State Council working group Oleg Kozhemyako, Head of the Federal Agency for Tourism Zarina Doguzova, Deputy Minister of Construction, Housing and Utilities Yury Gordeyev, State Secretary – Deputy Minister for the Development of the Russian Far East and the Arctic Pavel Volkov, General Director of the Tourism.RF Corporation Sergei Sukhanov, representatives of federal executive authorities, constituent entities of the Russian Federation, public organisations, development institutions and the business community.

Igor Levitin pointed out in his opening remarks the importance of creating a mechanism of state support for hotel room stock development projects, construction of engineering and transport infrastructure, and air transportation.

The discussion focused on measures to boost the construction of engineering and transport infrastructure, enhance the investment appeal of the tourism industry, proposals for its development, and regional experience of creating an effective and modern tourism infrastructure.

The meeting participants noted that resolving infrastructure problems would ensure the creation of a competitive tourist product that will be in demand on the market of domestic and inbound tourism, and a stable development of the industry.

The proposals made at the meeting will be included in the report to be submitted to the President at the State Council Presidium meeting.
