Participants noted that today the development of the Great Volga Route is very important and that the solutions to issues discussed by the working group directly affect the socio-economic situation in the Volga regions.

Twelve regions, organisations and the initiator of the Great Volga Route project – the Astrakhan Region – offered proposals to be considered by the State Council Presidium session. These proposals concern the need to improve the condition of the Volga River, upgrade the fleet, create conditions for enhancing the regions’ investment and tourist appeal, upgrade the transport infrastructure and resolve environmental issues.
