First Deputy Minister of Energy Pavel Sorokin, Deputy Minister of Energy Sergei Mochalnikov, representatives of relevant federal and regional bodies of executive authority, businesspeople and invited experts took part in the meeting.

The meeting participants discussed the implementation of the President’s instructions to update the Energy Strategy of the Russian Federation until 2050 with regard to the global economic trends. Pavel Sorokin reported on the progress in drafting the strategy.

Igor Levitin noted that the Energy Strategy should reflect in full the development needs of the regions: to provide for a timely construction and modernisation of generation facilities, boiler houses, networks, connecting the population to the distribution networks, transition of transport to gas fuel and transport electrification.

Sergei Tsivilev submitted proposals regarding the development of the coal sector to be included in the Energy Strategy. In particular, he pointed out the need to ensure the safety of mining and improving its prestige, to comply with environmental standards at coal producing facilities, develop deep processing of coal and coal chemistry, as well as create an industrial demand for mining equipment.

The meeting participants also discussed the implementation of the Clean Coal – Green Kuzbass comprehensive research and technical programme of the full innovation cycle, designed to create technologies that improve the efficiency of coal mining and processing. Sergei Mochalnikov reported on the programme; Irina Ganiyeva, director of the Kuzbass research and education centre, spoke about the projects being implemented in the Kemerovo Region as part of the programme.

The relevant proposals submitted by the commission members will be included in the minutes of the meeting.
