November 16, 2023

Presidential Aide and State Council Secretary Igor Levitin, Sverdlovsk Region Governor Yevgeny Kuivashev and Yekaterinburg Head Alexei Orlov took part in the main strategic session of the 7th national forum, Russian Cities 2030: New Heights, which is taking place on November 16–17 in Yekaterinburg.

Among the participants in the strategic session were Chair of the State Duma Committee for State Building and Legislation Pavel Krasheninnikov, Chair of the State Duma Committee for Regional Policy and Local Self-Government Alexei Didenko, as well as representatives of federal and regional authorities, and the business and expert communities.

In his greetings to the forum participants, Igor Levitin noted that the activity of the State Council, which comprises heads of municipalities on a rotation basis, is based on the principle of the unity of public authority, and that the coordinated work of federal and regional state government bodies and local self-governments allows for dealing with the issues of improving people’s wellbeing in an efficient way. The efforts of public authority must be aimed at creating a high quality of life in all communities in the country regardless of administrative borders, the Presidential Aide emphasised.

The plenary session participants exchanged views on the place and role of municipalities in the implementation of the country’s strategy and discussed the necessary measures to promote the development of major metropolises and to improve the quality of life for people in small and medium-sized cities of Russia.

The proposals and decisions developed at the forum will be submitted to the relevant State Council commissions.
