Presidential Aide, State Council Secretary Igor Levitin and Chairman of the State Council Commission on Transport, Head of the Republic of Buryatia Alexei Tsydenov co-chaired a meeting of the State Council Commission on Transport, held as part of Transport Week. The discussion focused on the state of roads and road safety in the regions of the Russian Federation.
The meeting was attended by Governor of the Astrakhan Region Igor Babushkin, Governor of the Rostov Region Vasily Golubev, Governor of the Trans-Baikal Territory Alexander Osipov, Governor of the Orenburg Region Denis Pasler, First Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Andrei Yatskin, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Transport and Transport Infrastructure Development Yevgeny Moskvichev, Federation Council and State Duma members, heads of federal and regional executive bodies and their deputies, as well as representatives of business, development institutions and the expert community.
The meeting participants discussed the current situation in the Russian regions and additional measures needed to maintain regional roads in an up-to-standard condition. They exchanged views on the effectiveness of the measures taken at the regional and federal levels. The commission members made proposals on improving the situation with the roads damage caused by trucks violating weight requirements.
Members of the Federation Council and the State Duma expressed their readiness to join the work at the legislative level to facilitate the implementation of the initiatives proposed.
Following the meeting, the proposals discussed will be sent to the Government of the Russian Federation for consideration.
