Nikolai Patrushev visits Ust-Luga port

May 26, 2025, Leningrad Region

Presidential Aide, Chairman of the Maritime Board Nikolai Patrushev visited Ust-Luga port in the Leningrad Region.

Nikolai Patrushev reviewed the prospects for expanding the capacity of the deep-water commercial seaport terminals and held discussions with representatives of the federal and regional authorities, as well as terminal owners, on ways to boost cargo throughput and implement investment projects aimed at developing new and upgrading and repurposing the existing transshipment infrastructure.

The Presidential Aide also held a meeting on safety of navigation in the Baltic Sea. Additional measures aimed at developing and ensuring the security of the Baltic port infrastructure were considered, as well as ways to diversify transport and logistics routes in the context of possible restrictions on shipping in the Baltic Sea by Western countries.

Measures to counter the growing threats of unauthorised interference in the operation of transport and logistics infrastructure, as well as attempts to carry out sabotage and terrorist acts, including with the use of unmanned aerial and maritime vehicles, were thoroughly examined. The effectiveness of previously implemented steps to strengthen the security of vessels and maritime infrastructure was also assessed.
