Dmitry Medvedev attended the funeral. The President laid a bouquet of roses on the coffin and expressed his condolences to the writer’s widow, Natalya Dmitriyevna, and his sons and relatives.
After the funeral service, Alexander Solzhenitsyn was buried in the Donskoi Monastery cemetery behind the altar of the Church of Ioann Lestvichnik.
Writer, essayist and Nobel Prize winner Alexander Solzhenitsyn died on August 3, 2008, aged 89.
