July 28, 2003, The Kremlin, Moscow

Deng Rong, who is deputy chair of the Russian-Chinese Committee for Friendship, Peace and Development, arrived in Moscow to present the second volume of her book Deng Xiaoping and the Cultural Revolution: A Daughter Recalls the Critical Years.

President Putin warmly greeted the guest and stressed that the Russian public now had a good chance to read not only books about the life of Deng Xiaoping, but also his writings.

He noted with satisfaction that Deng Xiaoping’s ideas were not only being applied in China’s domestic policy today, but also had an influence on its foreign policy. The President explained that he meant economic cooperation between Russia and China translated into a strategic partnership.

Deng Rong presented Mr Putin with a copy of her new book about her father.
