The following documents were signed in the presence of President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder: an agreement on youth cooperation, joint statements in the transport sector and on intention to cooperate in search and rescue missions at sea and in the fight against oil pollution of the seas, and a third cooperation programme in healthcare and medical science.

Agreements were also signed between the Irkut company and the Airbus consortium on making components for the Airbus A-320 aircraft, and between Russian Railways and Siemens AG on developing and manufacturing a new generation high-speed electric train.

A working programme to implement the joint statement on cooperation in the fight against international terrorism was also approved.
