The social and economic situation in the Far East and preparations for the 2012 APEC summit in Vladivostok were the subjects of discussion.
The President stressed that the law concerning the organisation of the APEC summit, signed on May 8, 2009, provides for the development of Vladivostok as a centre for international cooperation in the Pacific Rim. According to Dmitry Medvedev, the law should not only help prepare quickly and successfully for the summit, but also help address the challenges of development in the Primorye Territory, and especially its capital, Vladivostok.
