The amendments aim to clarify procedures for bringing to justice people suspected of violating Russian tax laws.
In particular, those guilty of a first-time tax evasion offence are freed from criminal liability if they pay in full tax arrears and corresponding penalties and the fine set in accordance with the Russian Tax Code.
People guilty or suspected of tax crimes cannot be placed in custody.
