Dmitry Medvedev emphasised that the success of other important tasks depends on improving traffic conditions in the capital.
According to the President, the capital's traffic problems are very acute and require urgent attention. The solution to these problems is not only incumbent on the city's mayor, but also the entire country. Therefore, this regional problem should be overseen by the federal government.
The President instructed the Russian Government, Moscow Mayor, the Governor of Moscow Region, working in tandem with the relevant ministries and departments, to draw up a comprehensive solution to this problem. Along with this, President Medvedev drew particular attention to its law enforcement aspect, as there are serious shortcomings in traffic organisation.
The meeting was attended by First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov, Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin, Presidential Aide and Head of the State-Legal Directorate Larisa Brychyova, Presidential Aide Arkady Dvorkovich, Regional Development Minister Viktor Basargin, Transport Minister Igor Levitin, Economic Development Minister Elvira Nabiullina, Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev, Moscow Region Governor Boris Gromov, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, Director of the Federal Customs Service Andrei Belyaninov, Head of the Federal Traffic Safety Department Viktor Kiryanov, and Russian Railways board of directors member Dmitry Komissarov.
