President of Russia Vladimir Putin: Good afternoon, friends.

Let me congratulate you all most warmly on this wonderful event. Your company, together with its European partners, is launching another big modern production facility today. Say Polyvinyl chloride or PVC for short to the general public and it might not mean much to them, but if you add that this product is used in manufacturing sectors from medical goods to construction materials and the automotive industry and so on, its importance for the Russian economy is obvious.

This plant is one of the biggest of its kind in the world and in Europe, and is certainly the biggest in Russia. It is another step forward in developing our country’s gas chemicals industry. It represents another major investment that has gone into real production, and for Nizhny Novgorod Region it also means new and well-paid jobs and good development opportunities for the local budgets. 

I thank everyone who took part in this joint work – our foreign partners, the engineers, builders and technicians, and I wish you all success. Thank you very much.
