President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga (retranslated): Thank you for visiting our country.
These are the days when we are marking the 80th anniversary of the historical victory in the Battle of Khalkhin Gol. Mr President, congratulations on that victory.
The Mongolian people are delighted that we are celebrating this date both ceremoniously and extensively. Actually, we have held very many different events. I believe you have been told about the demonstration flights made by the Russian Knights aerobatic team, which our people welcomed enthusiastically.
President of Russia Vladimir Putin: Mr President, first of all, I would like to thank you for your invitation.
True, the Battle of Khalkhin Gol and its round anniversary have brought our nations together. Back then, the Soviet Union resolutely supported Mongolia’s resistance to a foreign aggression, and Mongolia reciprocated during the Great Patriotic War and WWII, doing its utmost to support the Soviet Union in the fight against Nazism.
After the war, our relations developed in the best possible manner and were noted particularly by their quality. I am referring to our relations of actual alliance and the fraternal ties between our peoples.
In the past decades, owing to fundamental changes both in our country and in Mongolia, many various events took place, but the foundation created in the preceding decades, the foundation of friendship, partnership and alliance has not changed.
I am delighted to be visiting this friendly country, Mongolia, and I am confident that our meeting today will contribute to the further development of our bilateral relations.
