Vladimir Putin met with a number of Government members to discuss implementing housing programmes, budget policy, and the relief effort following last year’s floods in the Far East.

Vladimir Putin held a working meting with Head of the Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) Oleg Ostapenko and Deputy Head of Roscosmos Igor Komarov. The meeting focused on the agency’s performance in 2013 and the establishment of the United Rocket and Space Corporation.

Vladimir Putin had a working meeting with Energy Minister Alexander Novak.

Vladimir Putin had a working meeting with CEO of the Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation Sergei Kiriyenko.

Early in the morning, Vladimir Putin arrived in Volgograd where he held a meeting on measures to combat terrorism and also visited one of the hospitals where people injured in the terrorist attacks are being treated.

Vladimir Putin welcomed in the New Year in Khabarovsk together with residents of the Far East who have suffered from devastating flooding. In Khabarovsk, the President delivered his New Year's Address to the Nation.

An official New Year reception was held in the Kremlin Palace on behalf of the President of Russia.

Vladimir Putin met with representatives of electoral commissions to discuss issues pertaining to increasing the openness of the electoral system.

Ahead of the New Year, Vladimir Putin met with Government Cabinet members. The President gave an assessment of the work performed by the Cabinet and set the priorities for 2014.

Before the meeting of the Russia-Belarus Union State Supreme State Council, Vladimir Putin met with President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, who is in Russia on a working visit.

Prior to the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council meeting, Vladimir Putin met with President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev.

Vladimir Putin chaired a joint meeting of the State Council and the Commission for Monitoring Targeted Socioeconomic Development Achievement Indicators of the Russian Federation.

Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu briefed Vladimir Putin via video linkup from Severodvinsk on the deployment of strategic nuclear missile submarine Alexander Nevsky by the Russian Navy.
