Presidential Aide and State Council Secretary Igor Levitin held the second meeting of the working group to prepare for the State Council Presidium on the national programme for the development of the Far East for the period until 2025 and for the future until 2035.

Head of the Republic of Buryatia Alexei Tsydenov, deputy regional heads, representatives from the relevant federal and regional executive agencies, academia and experts took part in the meeting of the working group.

Chaired by head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Aisen Nikolayev, the working group reviewed the efforts being taken to prepare and to fine-tune the national programme draft in order to ensure its effective implementation in the Far Eastern Federal District.

Participants at the meeting paid special attention to one of the most urgent questions for the Far East, which is finding ways to retain the workforce in the region.

The working group also reviewed progress in the implementation of the presidential instructions that were issued following the preceding meetings of the State Council Presidium in 2017 and 2018 on various matters related to the development of the Far East.

The working group decided to finalise the report for the State Council Presidium meeting taking into consideration the proposals that were presented during the meeting.
