First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Kiriyenko chaired a meeting of the State Council Consultative Commission.
The participants discussed the distribution of financial support to compensate for the decreasing tax and non-tax revenue to the budgets of the Russian regions in 2020. The support is provided to the regions in line with the President’s instructions in order to finance measures to support individuals and economic entities, including measures the regions implemented on their own due to the deteriorating situation caused by the spread of the novel coronavirus.
Chelyabinsk Region Governor and Head of the Economy and Finance State Council Working Group Alexei Teksler noted in his report that it was necessary to support the regions whose incomes had decreased due to the deteriorating economic situation, because the regions have to meet all their social commitments and also implement national projects rapidly.
Following the meeting, approaches to the distribution of financial aid to the regions were determined and corresponding recommendations developed.
Taking part in the meeting were Aide to the President and State Council Secretary Igor Levitin, Aide to the President Maxim Oreshkin, Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin, Minister of Finance Anton Siluanov, Chair of the State Duma Budget and Tax Committee Andrei Makarov, and heads of regions – members of the consultative commission.
