Presidential aide and State Council Secretary Igor Levitin chaired a meeting of the Presidential Commission for the Development of General-Purpose Aviation and GLONASS-based Navigation and Information Technologies. The meeting was attended by representatives of the State Council Commission for Transport.
The meeting was attended by Head of the Republic of Buryatia and chair of the State Council Commission for Transport Alexei Tsydenov, heads of federal and regional executive authorities, heads of Russian regions and their deputies in charge of the air transport industry, as well as representatives of development institutions and the aviation expert community.
The agenda included a discussion on proposals for a plan to implement the Russian Federation’s transport strategy for the period until 2030 with a forecast up to 2035 for the development of general-purpose aviation, light aviation and its drone segment, as well as local and regional air service.
Igor Levitin noted that the transport strategy implementation plan was being developed by the Government in keeping with the President’s instructions issued after the October 2021 meeting of the State Council Presidium. He also outlined a number of conceptual remarks, including the need to peg the implementation plan to specific performance benchmarks that make it possible to accurately assess the degree of achieving the targets in the transport strategy, primarily with regard to ensuring transport accessibility in remote territories.
In their remarks, the participants noted that tapping the light aviation development potential as part of events included in the plan can help expand the domestic air service market, promote higher mobility and employment opportunities, create added value, and bring some existing businesses out from the shadows.
