June 19, 2023

Presidential Aide, State Council Secretary Igor Levitin and Governor of Sevastopol Mikhail Razvozhayev co-chaired a meeting of the State Council Commission on Education.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Education Sergei Kravtsov, Governor of the Orel Region Andrei Klychkov, Head of the Republic of Karelia Artur Parfenchikov, Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Science, Education and Culture Liliya Gumerova, Chair of the State Duma Committee on Education Olga Kazakova, State Duma deputies, representatives of federal and regional government bodies, municipal authorities and the teaching community.

The participants discussed uniform approaches to general education quality control and organisation of recreational programmes for children and youth during the summer of 2023.

In his opening remarks, Igor Levitin noted that a system-based state education policy, a clearly defined scope of strategic priorities for the education sector form a solid foundation for developing a sovereign system of education. Improving the quality of education is, certainly, a key task.

Sergei Kravtsov stressed that uniform approaches to the content of education, uniform standards and a single monitoring system are a guarantee of the accessibility of resources and equal conditions and opportunities for students, and also a guarantee of higher quality of education.

Chair of the State Council Commission on Education Mikhail Razvozhayev drew the participants’ attention to the importance of boosting the prestige of the teaching profession. Mr Razvozhayev said he was confident that the legacy of the Russian pedagogical science would be preserved, and the authority of teachers would be restored through joint efforts.

The meeting participants proposed measures to improve methods of achieving quality of Russian education and enhancing it.

Regarding recreational opportunities for children, members of the Commission specifically discussed safety (including sanitary measures, fire safety and security against terrorism), support and development of young talents, and health improvement activities during the 2023 summer season.
