A meeting of the Maritime Board of the Russian Federation took place.
The meeting was chaired by Presidential Aide and Chair of the Maritime Board Nikolai Patrushev. Reports were delivered by Head of the Federal Medical-Biological Agency (FMBA) Veronika Skvortsova, Minister of Emergency Situations Alexander Kurenkov, Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy Alexander Moiseyev, as well as representatives of the FSB, the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Healthcare, Rospotrebnadzor, and organisations involved in the maritime sector.
A wide range of issues related to additional measures for the development of maritime activity in the country have been considered.
Special attention was given to the medical and sanitary support in the maritime sphere. It was noted that the development of maritime medicine should be planned as an integral part of the national healthcare system. In this regard, a proposal was made to establish a unified system for medical care for the maritime personnel that includes aspects of general and medical rehabilitation for sailoirs, and the advancement of modern treatment methods for divers. Organisational and regulatory measures were developed to improve the efficiency of healthcare institutions specialising in providing medical help to maritime transport workers and naval personnel. Specific tasks were assigned to medical institutions authorised to conduct medical examinations for individuals working aboard ships, performing diving operations, and operating in the Arctic region. Emphasis was placed on the continued equipping of vessels with medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, and communications tools for telemedicine services.
Additionally, the maritime cruise tourism was discussed. New opportunities for the entry of foreign tourist vessels into the seaports in the Russian Far East and the Arctic were reviewed. Stakeholder federal executive authorities were instructed to submit proposals for expanding the list of ports located in Russia’s internal and territorial waters that are authorised to receive foreign cruise ships.
