The Russian leader will pay an official visit to the Republic of Korea on November 10–11, 2010 at the invitation of President of South Korea Lee Myung-bak.

As previously agreed, the presidents of Russia and the US will hold a full-scale meeting on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, which will be held in Yokohama on November 13–14, 2010.

The summit’s working session focused primarily on the global economic situation and ways to reduce sovereign debts and budget deficits. 

The final communique of the summit specified that the G20 format is a major forum for international economic cooperation.

In his remarks at the conference Mr Medvedev said that the global economic crisis has overturned ideas trendy at the end of the twentieth century on the declining role of states in the globalisation era.

The Government, together with the Central Bank, has been instructed to submit proposals for improving Russia’s laws on supervision and regulation of financial markets, their instruments and participants, in order to fulfil the obligations made during the London summit.

The President of Russia described the outcome of the London summit as a step in the right direction.

The Russian delegation at the talks included Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov, Presidential Aide Sergei Prikhodko, First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov and Minister of Finance Alexei Kudrin. The U.S. delegation included Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, National Security Advisor James Jones, and Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner.

The Russian-American Public Dialogue Group, Russia-USA: A Look into the Future, held its latest meeting in the run-up to the first meeting between President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev and President of the United States Barack Obama, which will take place at the start of April as part of the G20 summit in London. On the Russian side, the group is headed by Yevgeny Primakov, and on the American side, by Henry Kissinger.
