Vladimir Putin signed the Executive Order On Amending the State Ethnic Policy Strategy of the Russian Federation until 2025 approved by Presidential Executive Order No. 1666 of December 19, 2012.
The content of the Strategy is adjusted to comply with Federal Law No. 172-FZ of June 28, 2014, On Strategic Planning in the Russian Federation, the National Security Strategy of the Russian Federation updated in 2015, and other documents on strategic planning in areas of its implementation: the Strategy for Countering Extremism in the Russian Federation until 2025, the State Cultural Policy Strategy until 2030 and the Strategy for Developing Education in the Russian Federation until 2025.
Basic terms and definitions have been added to the State Ethnic Policy Strategy, such as state ethnic policy, civil unity, the Russian nation and interethnic relations, developed by the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Scientific Council for Comprehensive Ethnic and Interethnic Relations Issues.
The Strategy reflects the current state of interethnic relations, the results of maintaining interethnic peace and accord in Russia and new challenges and threats for the implementation of the state ethnic policy.
In addition, the new Strategy specifies the tools and mechanisms for implementing the state ethnic policy.
In order to monitor efforts to address the topical issues related to the state ethnic policy, the Strategy sets target indices and expected results of its implementation.
