Vladimir Putin held a meeting with permanent members of the Security Council.
The meeting participants discussed current domestic policy matters, mostly focusing on the socioeconomic agenda.
In addition, they had a conversation on the current state of Russia-US relations and the main irritants in this field. This topic was raised in the context of the upcoming meeting between Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev and Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs John Bolton, scheduled to take place on August 23 in Geneva.
The participants also exchanged views on the situation in Syria.
The meeting was attended by Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu, Director of the Federal Security Service Alexander Bortnikov, Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service Sergei Naryshkin, and Special Presidential Representative for Environmental Protection, Ecology and Transport Sergei Ivanov.
