Vladimir Putin will visit Minsk

During his working visit to the Republic of Belarus on October 10, Vladimir Putin will take part in meetings of the CIS Council of Heads of States, the Interstate Council of the Eurasian Economic Community and the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.

The  CIS summit will focus on the development of multilateral cooperation in the economic, humanitarian and law enforcement areas. A number of corresponding agreements and decisions are being prepared for signing, as well as the Statement on Strengthening the International Drug Control System. The leaders will approve an appeal to the peoples of the CIS member states and the global community in connection with the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945.

At the meeting of the Intergovernmental Council of the  Eurasian Economic Community, the presidents of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan will summarise the results of the EurAsEC work and sign an agreement to terminate its activity (as of January 1, 2015). In the 14 years of its existence, this organisation has made a significant contribution to the development of Eurasian integration, assisted in the creation of the  Customs Union, the Common Economic Space of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan and to bringing integration to a new level through the creation of the Eurasian Economic Union.

The meeting of the heads of state of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council will focus on pressing issues of trade in goods and services, as well as financial, organisational and technical aspects of launching from January 1, 2015, of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU). Currently, the EEU Agreement is pending ratification by the parliaments of Belarus and Kazakhstan. The Russian Federation ratified the document on October 3, 2014.
