The two presidents discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation in light of the implementation of comprehensive agreements reached during the President of Russia’s visit to Egypt last year.

The President congratulated the meeting’s participants on the ratification by the Russian parliament and Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada of the Russian-Ukrainian agreement extending Russia’s lease of a naval base and presence of its Black Sea Fleet on Ukrainian territory for 25 years.

The two presidents signed an agreement on the presence of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet in Ukraine extending such presence for 25 more years, with an option of an additional 5-year extension after the term expires, if neither party chooses to terminate the agreement.
