The meeting was held within the framework of the official visit of the Russian President in Ankara.

The declaration on the council’s creation was signed today by Dmitry Medvedev and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The Brazilian President will visit Russia at Dmitry Medvedev’ invitation. The two leaders will hold talks on May 14, 2010.

Dmitry Medvedev and Turkish President Abdullah Gul discussed trade and economic cooperation, joint efforts to fight extremism and terrorism, the situation in the Southern Caucasus, the Iranian nuclear programme, the Middle East peace process, and cooperation in the Black Sea region. 

The visit’s main events will take place on Wednesday, May 12, 2010.

Upon completion of President of Russia’s visit to Syria, Dmitry Medvedev and President of Syria Bashar al-Assad met with the leader of Hamas political bureau Khaled Mashal.

During the talks with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Dmitry Medvedev expressed confidence that the current friendly relations between Russia and Syria will continue in the future.

President of China Hu Jintao is in Moscow to take part in celebrating the 65^th anniversary of Victory over Nazism.

The summit concluded with the adoption of a joint message from the CIS heads of state to war veterans and those who toiled on the home front on the 65^th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The summit adopted two joint documents: a statement by the CSTO member states on the situation in Kyrgyzstan, and a statement by the member states regarding the conclusion of the Russian-US Treaty on Reduction and Limitation of Strategic Offensive Weapons.
