President Dmitry Medvedev and King Abdullah II discussed various issues of bilateral cooperation, pressing topics on the international agenda, and regional problems.

In particular, the two leaders discussed prospects of bilateral cooperation in the economic and defence sectors, as well as humanitarian cooperation. Special attention was paid to the subject of a Middle East settlement.

Dmitry Medvedev held a meeting with the permanent Security Council members.

Following tradition, the presentation ceremony took place in the Grand Kremlin Palace’s St Alexander Hall.

The presidents exchanged views on bilateral cooperation, in particular on the implementation of trade and economic projects, as well as the development of educational and cultural ties.

The final communique of the summit specified that the G20 format is a major forum for international economic cooperation.

In his remarks at the conference Mr Medvedev said that the global economic crisis has overturned ideas trendy at the end of the twentieth century on the declining role of states in the globalisation era.

Cooperation between Russia and the European Union during Spain’s presidency of the EU was the main subject on the agenda.

The part Russia and France are playing in overcoming the global financial crisis, joint humanitarian projects, and international issues, including the situation in the Middle East and the upcoming G20 summit in Pittsburgh were the subjects of discussion.
