Presidential Aide, Secretary of the State Council, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Council for the Development of Physical Culture and Sport Igor Levitin and Voronezh Region Governor Alexei Gordeyev co-chaired a meeting of the expert council of the working group to prepare a meeting of the Council for the Development of Physical Culture and Sport on improving the physical education system.
Before the meeting, Igor Levitin and Voronezh Region Governor Alexei Gordeyev visited one of the sports grounds located in the Olimpiysky residential development. The facility is equipped for volleyball, basketball and badminton and is transformed into a skating rink for the winter.
Mr Levitin and Mr Gordeyev also visited the city’s Central Park, where they examined the Fitness social project. The project is aimed at organising healthy leisure and entertainment for Voronezh residents through free training under the guidance of leading fitness, yoga and dance instructors.
The Presidential Aide and the Governor visited the local youth sports school for the Olympic reserve in artistic gymnastics, where they watched a seminar for young gymnasts led by Olympic medallists, including this year’s winners of the XXXI Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The working group’s expert council met to discuss the draft report for the meeting of the Presidential Council for the Development of Physical Culture and Sport and to consider proposals to improve the physical education system in Russia. The proposals included expanding the Physical Culture and Sports Development Strategy until 2020 by extending the list of national sports, introducing modern information technology, developing low-budget sport facilities in Russian regions and setting the goals and objectives for sports associations at the present stage.
Considerable attention was paid to further improving the programme of nationwide sport school events, Presidential Competitions and Presidential Games.
